One searchable documentation site, built automatically from every repository in a GitLab group
At Protegrity, documentation was spread across many GitLab repositories and wikis. During my summer internship I built Docs to gather it all in one searchable place, especially for new employees finding their way.
A Python script walks a GitLab group through the GitLab API and pulls in every wiki, README and Markdown file, with their images. A second script builds the navigation from what it found, and MkDocs Material turns it into a static site with full-text search and links back to each source repository.
A two-stage GitLab CI pipeline fetches the latest docs, builds the site and publishes it on GitLab Pages, so nobody has to copy documentation by hand. The code is public, set up against GitLab’s own example projects.
